The Indian Premier League has added two new franchises, Lucknow and Ahmedabad in the upcoming tournament. The hype is real as the mega auction for the next season of 2022 is round the corners. Fans have come up with an interesting theory about KL Rahul who might have plans of joining the Mumbai Indians team in the 15th edition of the IPL Championship.
KL Rahul is one of the famous cricketers in the world with lots of followers on social media. Having said that, it is casual for fans to watch every move of their favorites and have a check on their social media activities. Rahul has 11 million followers in Instagram and follows only 320 accounts as most of them are cricketers. Well, in this list, there have been two IPL franchises he follows. First one as expected, his current IPL team, Punjab Kings and the other unexpected franchise is the Mumbai Indians.
It’s quite surprising to see KL Rahul follow this team as he doesn’t have any connections with the Mumbai franchise nor has he played for them before. This became a debatable topic since he doesn’t follow his previous IPL franchises, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad. After the end of those IPL seasons, he bid farewell to his ex-franchises and stopped following them. Well, it looks like KL Rahul wants to team up with the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming season and that might be the reason for his actions.
KL Rahul has clearly not been enjoying his ride as the captain of the PBKS and was always having quarrels with the management. It’s evident that the Indian batsman will be parting his ways soon with the franchise. KL Rahul has been the anchor of the Punjab team throughout this IPL 2021 scoring 626 runs at an impressive average of 62.60 runs per over.
The Punjab Kings’ co-owner, Ness Wadia doesn’t value KL Rahul. He was reported to say, “There are many players apart from KL Rahul, firstly. One player does not make up a team. I’ve always said that. Having said that, every player has a value and one thing I will say is we’ve learned to adjust and adapt throughout. Any team that hinges too much on one player, that does prove beyond a point a liability.”
