Indian Premier League is one of the most viewed and heavy cash flowing cricket tournaments. With growing celebrity support and media coverage, the tournament has garnered a lot of attention over the years and has reached nooks and corners pan India and worldwide. Usually befire the beginning of each season, an auction takes place where teams pick players based on their purse amount. It is not always necessary for a team to let go of an existing player, but this time, owing to the mega auction, teams have certain rules on player retention and a heavy shuffle is set to happen. While the deadline for the teams to submit the player retention list is November 30, Punjab Kings have taken a drastic decision if the sources are to be believed.
Punjab’s retention list:
Earlier, it was said that KL Rahul was not so keen on continuing his association with Punjab team and has decided to break ties with them. However, it is unlikely that the team would cut ties with a player who crossed the 600 run mark in three of the four seasons that he played for the side. Even in the year that he couldn’t cross the said mark, he ended up with a humongous 593 run total. That said, his decision to start afresh has also led the whole team dive into a major revamp. If the talks are to be trusted, Punjab will participate in the mega auction with a full purse – INR 90 crore. It is also said that Punjab team is looking into retaining an uncapped player like Arshdeep Singh or Ravi Bishnoi. If they decide on either one of them, Punjab has to spend INR 4 crore for retention. Other prominent players like Shikar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav have also been reported as part of non-retained players list. So, the two new teams – Ahmedabad and Lucknow would try picking some players from this list to add up their strength.
