During a cricket match, there are a lot of factors that ought to be right in order for a team to win. Among them, weather conditions and other such unexpected scenarios turn out to be some of the important deciders. Though a few mistakes from the team’s side such as misfields, wrong deliveries etc. happen, some unexpected factors play a major role in a team’s victory. One such factor is the player’s health condition. If a bowler/batsman is not fit enough to participate in the match, one of the crucial resources goes missing and finding an equivalent replacement is almost always impossible. Although other players in the team seem pretty solid, the void of that one player will remain and may change the fate of the game. One such incident is now about to happen and fans are definitely not happy with the news.
Varun’s knee status: Varun Chakravarthy, the architect-turned-cricketer, from Tamil Nadu grabbed everyone’s attention with his last two IPL performances for the Kolkata Knight Riders team. He is also popular in Tamil Nadu for his tattoo of actor Vijay and the clips from when he met the actor became viral on social media. When his name was announced as part of the T20 World Cup squad, many people were happy. In the 26 IPL matches that he has played so far, he has grabbed 32 wickets and in the ongoing season alone he has picked 15 wickets in 13 matches. An update about his knee condition from a BCCI source: “Varun’s knees are not in great condition. He is in pain and trusts me had it not been in a T20 World Cup, perhaps even Indian team management wouldn’t have taken the risk of playing him. To be 100 percent fit, he might later require extensive rehab but right now, the focus will be on his pain management during the T20 World Cup.” He has also been insisted to not dive as part of fielding. A senior player has stated that “He is not expected to field like a Jaddu (Ravindra Jadeja) or Virat”
