IPL 2021 has almost come to an end and the impending playoffs seem to be a pretty tough one. The four teams that qualified to the playoffs are Delhi Capitals, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Kolkata Knight Riders. With the 5 times IPL champion MI out of the playoffs, this year’s cup winner sure will be the best. With that being said, even though teams had qualified for the playoffs, the league matches will still be taken pretty seriously because in the end, everything’s a game. In the 54th IL match, Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders locked horns with each other, and confusion at the dugout made all heads turn around. Confusions are set to happen in any sporting event, let alone cricket. But, this confusion was something very new and the umpire’s call was different from the one expected.
Sangakkara’s decision and the umpire’s objection: Sanju Samson won the toss and decided that their side will bowl first. The openers of KKR pulled off they’re very best and gave a steady start that the team needed. Shubman Gill scored 56 runs off 44 balls and Venkatesh Iyer scored 38 runs off 35 deliveries. Shubman GIlls half-century which consisted of 4 fours and 2 sixes put a perfect basement for the team. This gave a tough fight for the RR bowlers. However, Morris, Sakaria, Tewatia, and Glenn Phillips took one wicket each and KKR ended up at 171 runs. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals did not give a fightback that everyone expected of them. Many crucial batsmen lost their wickets quite early in the game and were dismissed for single-digit runs. Rahul Tewatia somehow managed to score 44 runs off 36 balls. When RR was at the 85 run mark, they lost all the wickets and ended up losing miserably. The poor performance aside, there was slight confusion when Dube got into the field after Samson’s wicket was taken. When Dude stepped into the field, Sangakkara looked confused and stopped him and called him back. This was because he wanted the youngster Rawat to play. But it was already late as Dube had crossed the boundary line and so the umpire insisted Dube return to the field.
